January 25, Bitcoin point of sale system BitcoinPapa receives funding, adds cofounders and rebrands as CoinPip.
February 22, MAS issues statement saying they will be monitoring the use of virtual currencies for money laundering and cautioning consumers.
February 28, Bitcoin Exchange launches a bitcoin vending machine in City Link.
March 4, MAS issues another statement saying that Bitcoin is unregulated and consumers should use caution.
March 22, Coin Republic launches Singapore’s first cash in, cash out capable bitcoin kiosk.
April 26, RISE Bitcoin event at Lowercase showcased merchants accepting bitcoin in Singapore.
May 8, Startup Asia holds the first Bitcoin Debate in Singapore. Bank of Singapore head Economist vs. Co-Founder of Gatecoin.
May 21-22, Coin Congress held in Singapore, featuring local and internationally recognized cryptocurrency industry professionals.
May 22, Bullionstar becomes Singapore’s first bullion dealer to accept Bitcoin as payment.
June 4, CRXZone a Singapore based Bitcoin and Litecoin trading platform officially launched.
June 16, Local industry members formerly announce the formation of ACCESS The Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups, Singapore- an industry body representing the interests of the Bitcoin sector in Singapore.
June 27, Temasek Holdings chairman Lim Boon Heng announces that they conducted a companywide bitcoin experiment. They had all employees learn about wallets, bought and sent them all a little, and then had them donate the bitcoin to a charity.
July 25, CloudMining.sg launches Litecoin mining operation in Singapore, raises SGD$200,000.
August 10, MAS Managing Director Ravi Menon states that Digital Currencies “Have a Role to Play”.
August 27 Local exchange Coinsupermart joins Adam Draper’s BOOST batch 4, and changes name to CoinHako.
October 10, e27 Echelon features a Bitcoin Panel focusing on the possibilities for startups in the space.
October 24, Bitcoin point of sale system provider Coinpip accepted into Batch 11 of 500 Startups.
October 30, Local bitcoin brokerage Coin Republic announces it has done over SGD$1million in turnover for the past 12 months.
November 4, SMU holds its’ first Cryptocurrency Conference.
November 21, Local Point of sale provider Coin of Sale is named the exclusive transaction processor for the Bitcoin-Only cafe in Czechoslovakia’s Crypto-Anarchy Institute.
December 3, SMU holds a series of free educational seminars explaining the technology behind bitcoin.
December 5, Channel News Asia- Perspective features a prime time program on Virtual Currencies and Taxation.
December 18, Coinhako announces a six figure personal investment by Tim Draper.
