August 1, 2013, Artistry Cafe, Singapore
Singapore’s first open outcry sale of a Bitcoin took place at Artistry Cafe in Bugis.
An open outcry for Bitcoin is sometimes called ‘Satoshi Square’ in honor of the Bitcoin creator. It’s also been called Buttonwood in honor of the original Wall Street market maker agreement.
This was the second meetup organized by the Bitcoin Singapore group. The event was held at the cafe ‘Artistry’ in Bugis. This is the first cafe in Singapore to accept Bitcoin as payment and many of the attendees took advantage of this.
Singapores has a rich history as a free trading hub, and in modern times as a financial center. Proponents of Bitcoin believe it will become an important part of the Bitcoin ecosystem.
