Over the two-day event, thought leaders from across finance, technology and legal professions will share their analysis and insights on the first decentralized and peer-to-peer based cryptocurrency. The line-up of local and international speakers at Inside Bitcoins Singapore come from diverse backgrounds and include Aurélien Menant, Co-Founder and CEO of Gatecoin; and So Saito, Counsel, Nishimura & Asahi, and Legal Advisor of Japan Authority of Digital Assets. Among the exhibitors at the inaugural edition is itBit, a global bitcoin exchange platform built by Wall Street professionals for institutional and retail investors.
Earlier this year, Singapore introduced two of Asia’s first bitcoin ATMs, which allow users to use Singapore dollars to buy bitcoins. While there has been much discussion about the pros and cons of bitcoins, the bitcoin ATMs drew a huge queue when they were launched. In addition, Singapore-based bitcoin brokerage, Coin Republic, also announced this year that it has broken the S$1 million mark in annual turnover. In anticipation of the growing demand by the public for alternative means of currency exchange in Singapore, the conference sessions will cover topics such as the implications of bitcoins, compliance, and the risks and opportunities of bitcoin adoption in Singapore.
